Would you believe that 20-ish years ago I was embarking on a journey beyond bezels and cabochons, prong and flush setting stones, making elaborate modular, multi-stone earrings and even working in gold. And then, love, marriage, ye olde baby carriage.
Obviously, some do sail right on through, but I got, or allowed myself to get, blown way, way off course. Once I stepped away from the bench, trepidation crept in…
But, I had the intention of getting back to it, and long story short, here we are. What was the impetus? Basically, death. People in our sphere started dying, maybe three people over five-ish years, each a loss, and each a big fat reminder about my own mortality. Time to get back to the bench. And so, here I am.
This piece is the first rosecut diamond I’ve ever set, even better, the bezel is 22k gold which I alloyed and milled myself. So fun, so empowering. Onward!
